Tenerife Diving Sites

Marazul

This is one of the best shore dives in Tenerife and can be dived in many different ways, depending on the experience of the divers in the group.  This site boasts some exceptional underwater volcanic formations, as well as a volcanic lava tube at 28 metres.   Gully Jacks, Tuna, Stingrays, Eagle Rays and Angel Sharks have been seen at this site.

The Dozer

This little known dive site is actually an earth mover which it seems, has been mysteriously dumped into the ocean. Never-the-less, it has now been transformed into a miniature artificial reef, which is home to many species including a Moray eel.  The adjacent reef drops down suddenly and provides an interesting wall dive.  With a maximum depth of 25 metres, this is an interesting but easy dive, suitable for all qualification levels.

Playa Paraiso – The Rays

This site can be dived either by boat or from the shore. The reef juts out seaward and then drops down to a sandy lagoon at 28 metres.   This site has an amazing amount of fish life, unseen at any other site in Tenerife, as well as a resident family of large, friendly Atlantic Stingrays.  This really is an unmissable dive site.

Palm Mar Cave

The cave is situated underneath a large reef, which drops down to the ocean floor at 30 metres and is inhabited by Moray eels of all shapes and sizes, as well as Triggerfish, Parrotfish, Rays and the occasional Pelagic.  This cave, however, should not be penetrated as the sandy bottom can easily be disturbed.  Due to its depth, this dive is suitable for advanced divers.

El Condesito

The Condesito sank 25 years ago, settled at 20 metres and is now home to a wide variety of sea life including, Trumpet fish, Damsels, Barracuda and Wrasse.  Volcanic lava flows have formed canyons and drop-offs around the wreck, which are also worth investigating.  Accessed from the boat, this site is suitable for all levels.

The Steps

Great for multi level diving, this site is accessed from the boat. The scenic volcanic swim through is home to a large shoal of grunts, which swim around aimlessly in the current.   Divers with the necessary qualifications can follow the slope down to 40 metres, where there are black corals. There are often Sardines, Trumpet fish, Torpedo Rays, Jacks and often-large Barracuda at this site.

The Mushrooms

This site is situated 5 minutes from Las Galletas harbour and is characterised by large reef formations and a wealth of aquatic life, including Pelagics. The narrow passageways which separate the reefs, give this site its name. Drift dives are particularly good here. This dive is suitable for advanced divers.

Las Galletas – Rays

This site is home to a large number of common Stingrays, which over the years have become accustomed to being fed by divers. Next to the site, sat on the ocean floor, is a small wreck which houses many species of subtropical fish including Damsel, Bream, Parrot and a resident Moray. This is a very relaxing dive, providing a great opportunity to interact with the Rays.  With an average depth of 20 metres, this site is open to advanced divers.

Yellow Mountain

This is a highly scenic reef which boasts large underwater rock formations and a variety of aquatic life, including Cuttlefish, Bream, Trumpet fish, Octopus, Stingrays and Barracuda.  With an average depth of 15 metres, this site is suitable for novice and expert divers alike.

Black Cove

Secluded in a small cove, this small, patchy reef offers calm, clear waters and a maximum depth of approximately 20 metres, making it suitable for divers of all levels.  At this site there are many species of fish including Stingrays, Bream, Gully Jacks, Barracuda and occasionally Angel Sharks.  Plus, there is a large cave and some very interesting volcanic rock formations.
