Diver Emergency

When diving in Tenerife or any other dive location in the world accidents can happen (although rare) our PADI registered diving school would use the hyperbaric chamber located in the Hospital Universitario of the Canaries,  in La Laguna. The telephone number is listed below. The chamber allows for the oxygen treatment of several people at a time, with a chamber and antechamber. It is equipped with an airlock for the provision and exchange of material and it also has an intercom link with the outside. It belongs to the Federacion Canaria de Actividades Subacuaticas, providing specialised medical assistance and an attendant on 24-hour call. HYPERBARIC Oxygenation (HBO) can be used to treat not only decompression sickness but also a number of other conditions including smoke inhalation and carbon monoxide poisoning. It has even been known to help cure sports injuries.
